Our Favorite Types of Plants

Date: December 5, 2019

Often, people struggle with the kind of item they should gift their loved ones. Flowers are too short-lived, while items such as shoes and clothes are difficult to gauge and rather personal. Live plants make a perfect gift as the recipient will enjoy them for years to come. Besides, plants can be used to brighten up any workspace or home. You can let your creativity run wild as there’s a host of options.

Below is a list of different types of plants that make thoughtful gifts and which you can obtain from us:

1. Azalea Plant

Commonly referred to as “The Garden’s Royalty,” azaleas are popular for their colorful and vibrant blossoms. There are hundreds of varieties you can choose from with colors ranging from red, white, pink, orange, purple, and more. The plant is also available in towering shrubs or ground covers.
The ideal seasons to plant an azalea plant are early spring or the fall, as this gives it sufficient time before the onset of extreme weather conditions. After planting, keep the soil around it moist and cool but not overly wet.

2. Orchid Plant

Orchids are excellent plants, especially inside the house, as they are available in a wide range of colors and sizes. Although orchids make a thoughtful and perfect gift, they are rather difficult to maintain.
Orchids thrive with ample water, but you need to give the soil some time to dry out before you water again. They also need humidity levels ranging from 50-70%. You can use a humidifier or place a water-filled dish beneath the plants.

3. Peace Lily

Also referred to as closet plants, peace lilies are popular indoor plants. Although they are relatively easy to care for, you will still need to observe proper growing conditions for the peace lily plant to survive.
For starters, peace lilies are more forbearing of under-watering than overwatering. Check the plant once every week to establish whether it needs watering. You will need to re-pot your peace lily once it outgrows its container. Look out for such signs as deformed leaves or if the plant droops a day or two after watering.

4. Poinsettia

Poinsettia plants are mistakenly used only as holiday décor. Proper maintenance can keep your poinsettias looking good for next year’s festivities. Place your poinsettia plants in a place with plenty of natural light but avoid direct sunlight. Avoid placing it in drafty areas, near heat sources or cooling fans, and high traffic areas. Allow your plants to dry out completely before watering it again.

5. Rose Bushes

Rose bushes are quite popular in gardens due to their striking foliage and remarkable blooms, which are available in a wide range of shades. Caring for your rose bushes is as simple as maintaining proper drainage, fertilizing them from time to time, pruning them during the summer, and ensuring they receive plenty of sunlight.

6. Succulent

Different types of succulent plants thrive in different environments. The first step towards maintaining your succulent plant is choosing the right kind for your preferred environment. Avoid planting your succulents in containers that do not drain. These plants thrive in plenty of sunlight. Also, water them more but less frequently.

These are only some of the different plant gifts you can buy from our store. Gifting someone with a plant shows that you trust them enough to give them the responsibility of nurturing something. Also, plants are befitting gifts for any occasion. However, choose a plant species which the recipient will love.
