Yonkers has a typical layout with most houses gathered in small neighborhoods, with two main shopping districts - Broadway and South Broadway – that are connected by some of Yonkers' major roads that flow through the city.

Yonkers is made up of several small and distinct neighborhoods. Downtown Yonkers – or simply, downtown – is the city's central business district and main shopping area.
